Halloween in Michigan

Are you a fan of all things dark and spooky? Do you like to be scared silly with a group of screaming, giggling friends in tow?

Michigan has plenty of haunted attractions where you can get your horror fix.  From small town family-oriented houses to four-story haunted mansions and goblin-filled forests, our home state has something for everyone.

Below is a list of websites to find where you can visit a haunted attraction near you for halloween adventures.

Erebus Haunted Attraction

Erebus is billed as the world's largest haunted house. It's four stories and was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Walk-Through Haunted Attraction in 2005.

It's located in downtown Pontiac in Oakland County, Michigan, near Detroit, Ann Arbor and Flint. It opens in late September and open most days in October. Some of the big attractions are a Chainsaw Massacre, Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, Hidden Passageways and Rhino Stampede.

The admission price is a bit steep at over $20. But that's not too bad for those who love to be scared senseless. Visit the link below for more info about visiting Erubus as well as employment for those of you who love to be the ones to frighten people.

Halloween at Greenfield Village

Greenfield Village in Dearborn not only celebrates a bygone era but educates and entertains. Special events including historical reenactments are held throughout the year as well as ongoing demonstrations of arts, crafts and life from centuries past.

Hallowe'en at Greenfield Village takes visitors back to the turn of the 20th century. Guests can carve a jack-o-lantern and hope to catch a glimpse of the headless horseman riding by. Visitors can come in costumes or street clothes and go trick-or-treating at several themed treat stations throughout the village. Visit the link below for dates, times and admission prices.

More Michigan Fall Fun

Are haunted houses low on your fall fun list? How about taking the family to a Michigan cider mill? Or take in both. Visiting apple orchards is another autumn tradition in our area.

Gather up the kids or take a romantic trip for two for a day of apple picking and freshly made cider and donuts. You might even stop at one of the many mills that have hayrides and pumpkin patches. Visit the cider mill directory at right to find an orchard near you.
